This 1:24 scale model kit from Hasegawa recreates the DATSUN 240Z that won the 1971 Safari Rally. A detailed plastic assembly kit, it offers hobbyists the chance to build a classic motorsport icon.
The engine bay detail on this kit is seriously impressive for the scale, and the Safari Rally decals went on without tearing even on the curved fenders. Took me a couple of evenings to finish, but the body lines look sharp and it sits perfectly on the shelf next to my other rally cars.
The box art alone got me hyped, but the real win is how crisply the engine bay and roll cage mold together—no flash to clean up. Panel lines are sharp enough that the Safari livery pops once you lay down the paint. It’s a fun weekend build that looks like a proper rally machine on the shelf.
Took my time with the decals for the Safari livery and they settled down beautifully over the body lines. The rally-specific parts like the roof lights and mud flaps give it real character once assembled. A fun build that captures the 1971 winner perfectly.
