This 1/72 scale model kit from Hasegawa depicts the Mitsubishi F-2B in its "Prototype No.4" configuration. It is a plastic assembly kit intended for hobbyists interested in modern Japanese military aircraft.
Panel lines on this 1/72 kit are fine and crisp, and the prototype parts fit together with barely any flash to sand. I've built a few modern Japanese jets and this one went together in a weekend.
The panel fit on this 1/72 F-2B is incredibly tight, so dry-fitting the fuselage halves took barely any sanding. The prototype decal sheet is generous, and the small stencil markings really pop against the bare plastic. It's a rewarding Saturday build for anyone into modern Japanese jets.
Decals for the prototype scheme are crisp and the canopy is crystal clear, which made painting that distinctive blue-grey much less stressful. Fit on the fuselage halves was nearly seamless, so I only needed a tiny bit of filler at the wing roots. A great weekend build if you’re into modern Japanese
