A practical buying guide for the Hasegawa 1/72 Space Wolf SW-190 Yuki Kei Special model kit from Captain Harlock Space Pirate Dimension Voyage. Learn what's in the box, skill level needed, and who this kit is for.
Quick answer
The Hasegawa 1/72 Space Wolf SW-190 Yuki Kei Special is a detailed plastic model kit from the Captain Harlock Space Pirate Dimension Voyage series. It's best for intermediate modelers who enjoy sci-fi spacecraft and want a display piece with screen-accurate proportions.
Why scale and series matter
At 1/72 scale, this kit fits well alongside other spacecraft or aircraft models of the same scale. The Space Wolf SW-190 Yuki Kei Special is a distinct variant from the Dimension Voyage storyline, so it appeals to fans who want a specific ship rather than a generic space fighter.
If you are new to the Captain Harlock universe, the kit does not include a figure or base. Plan for a separate display stand if you want to pose it in flight.
Skill level and build expectations
Hasegawa kits are known for crisp molding and good fit, but this is not a snap-together model. You will need plastic cement, hobby knives, and basic modeling tools. Painting is recommended to bring out panel details, though the plastic color may work for a quick build.
The kit includes decals for the Yuki Kei markings. Apply them over a gloss coat for best results. Beginners should expect a few hours of careful assembly.
Decision rules for this kit
- Skill level: Intermediate. Requires glue, paint, and decal application. Not suitable for first-time builders.
- Scale compatibility: 1/72 scale matches many aircraft and sci-fi model kits. Pairs well with other Hasegawa spacecraft. Measure your display space; the finished model is about 8-10 inches long.
- Series authenticity: Based on the Dimension Voyage version of Captain Harlock. The Yuki Kei Special variant has unique markings and color scheme. If you prefer the classic Arcadia or Death Shadow, this is a different ship.
